Abby16
Abby16 is a 6 year old yellow female lab. She was surrendered from a home that got a new dog that they liked better than Abby. We can't imagine how there could be a sweeter dog than this one. Abby is gentle, quiet, knows basic commands,is house trained, does not pull on leash but loves walks. She gives kisses and lays quietly by your feet. Abby gets along well with dogs and cats and is a great companion. She is an "easy button" dog. She has a small black mark on her left knee in the shape of a perfect heart. It suits her.

Asher2
Asher is our SPOTLIGHT Dog!
Click here to read more about him!

Asher's name, derived from the Hebrew word meaning "joy," fits him just perfectly, since he is easily the most joyful lab you'll ever meet! He's a beautiful 5 year old boy with a coat so soft you can't help but want to pet him... which makes Asher really joyful! Being loved is Asher's greatest joy in life, and he's happiest when he's getting petted and hugged. He's quick to flash you a big, goofy grin while you're scratching his ears, and if you lean close, he'll give gentle kisses. Asher is good with other dogs, with cats, and with children, though like all big dogs, he does sometimes knock over small children with his tail. He walks great on a leash and doesn't pull at all, and he can be trusted left alone in the house while you're away. Asher doesn't like to be home all alone, so he needs to go to a home with at least one other dog to keep him company while you're away for the day. When you come home, he greets you with -what else?- a giant, goofy grin and a wagging tail! If you need a little more joy in your life, look no further than Asher!

Baby2
My name is Baby and I'm a 5 year old big girl (108 lbs) who loves people. I love to play fetch and to swim in the pool. I'm very mellow and okay with other dogs as long as they don't try to take my bone away! I know how to sit and am learning how to walk on the leash. I will make a great family pet!

Chloe7
Hi I'm Chloe. I love to cuddle right next to you and give you lots of kisses! I need to be the only dog in the family as I prefer to have my humans all to myself. I enjoy going for a walk, am housetrained and sleep well all night long. I like to cool off in the pool but don't know how to swim yet so I'll need someone to teach me. I don't know any of my basic commands yet but I bet if you take some time I'll be a quick learner, I think I'm really smart! If you would like to meet me, please contact your Home Visit Volunteer!

Cinder3
Cinder is an 8 month old bundle of energy! He is a very strong young man who, like all young labs, will definitely need training! Cinder is very sweet and loves people, but he pulls very hard on the leash. He is good with other dogs and he likes kids but could knock over the littler ones. We aren't sure if he gets along with cats. If you're ready to make the commitment a young lab requires and are interested in learning more about Cinder, contact your Home Visit volunteer!

Hank4
Hank is now in a foster home, and here's what we know about him so far: Hank is a very sweet dog. At 7 years old, he's well beyond all of that silly puppy behavior. He's a medium-energy kind of guy, walks beautifully on leash, is housetrained, and knows most of his basic commands. He gets along well with his foster brothers, cats, kids and all people. He loves children and have noticed that is gentle with the little ones. Hank rides wonderfully in the car and is content to lay down in the back and relax until you arrive at your destination. Hank is a big lab! Right now, he's a little on the skinny side, but his ideal weight should be around 90 pounds. More than anything, Hank loves to be loved and gives it right back! He's happiest when he's getting attention from his people. Hank is a "velcro" kind of dog... he'll follow you around everywhere and lean against your legs to ask for rubs. Looking for a sweet, big boy to cuddle with on those cool winter nights? Hank is your guy!

Honey8
Honey is a 4 year old yellow girl who is super sweet, and who loves to swim and play ball. She is about 80 lbs and gets along with other dogs, cats, and is good with older kids. She enjoys walks but pulls a little on the leash. Honey is completely housetrained, and loves to cuddle and be by your side. If you think Honey sounds like a match for your family, please contact your Home Visit Volunteer!

Hope5
Hope is a trim black lab, four years old. She has lots of energy when playing outside but is quite calm in the house. She loves to chase tennis balls and will leap up high to catch one. She also loves to go on walks, although she pulls a bit on the leash and will need some training in this area. In the house she is content to lay around by the feet of her humans. She is wonderful with children and is both patient and gentle with them. Consider meeting this beautiful girl and bring some “Hope” into your home!

Indigo
Indigo is high energy 3 year old black male lab. He was not housebroken when he went into foster care, however, he is making excellent progress going outside to take care of business. He gets along well with other dogs, both male and female, and is not a dominant dog. Indigo has had one interaction with a cat while in his foster home and was more curious than anything - no hostility, no barking, no growling. He is learning to walk on a leash and takes correction well. Indigo is learning sit and stay. He is quite the lover, and will nuzzle and cuddle, if you let him. More than anything, Indigo enjoys being around people!

Joey4
Joey is our DLRR Spotlight Dog!
Click here to learn even more about him!

Hello, My name is Joey. I am now 1 year old and about 70 pounds (I've aged and grown!!!) so I am on the smaller side (but on the cuter side too!) I had a loving mom but her situation was difficult and she could not spend time with me, and I was lucky enough to meet the nice people from DLRR. I have 3 canine siblings at my foster home. I was exposed to cats at my previous Grandma's. I have quickly become great on a leash since arriving at my foster home. I am like any juvenile lab - I want to play, and sometimes I am goofy and clumsy. I am housebroken and crate trained. My foster parents think I am a quick learner. From my perspective that's all I want to tell you. Oh - by the way, DLRR thinks I should mention one thing... they tell me I am blind but I do not know what that means and I am quite happy to be the way I am. I would really love going to a home with another dog to play with and follow. My foster parents use some neat sounds to help me and they watch out for me in their house to make sure I am safe. If you are willing to do the same then I would like to meet you! Love, Joey

Jonathan
Jonathon is a senior gentleman who is a total sweetheart! He came to us after his owner passed away, but we quickly learned Jonathon loves to be petted and loves his toys. He is well mannered... at 10 years of age, he's past all the puppy nonsense! Jonathon is doggie door trained, fair on a leash, and good with other dogs and cats. He does have some health problems that will be lifelong. These do not stop Johathon from chasing a ball all day long. What a gem! Please give us a call to meet Jonathan!

Mojo
Mojo is a wonderful 7 month old lab pup that is ready for a family to love! He is very smart & already sits and shakes on command. He is a high energy boy who will need training, as ALL lab puppies do, but (like all lab puppies!), he learns very quickly! Mojo is good with other dogs, sleeps very well in his crate, and needs a patient, loving & active family to teach him and to enjoy his puppyhood. To meet Mojo, contact your Home Visit Volunteer!

Nicole2
Nicole is a slender black female estimated to be about 6 years old. She came to DLRR as an underweight and pregnant stray. Through lots of good nutrition, and even with successfully raising a litter of 6, she is now at an ideal weight of around 60 lbs. Nicole is gentle and very affectionate. She is good with the other dogs in her foster home, but we think she would also be happy as a pampered only dog. We do not have experience with Nicole being around kids but her personality suggests she would be good with children. She seems to have a high prey drive toward small wildlife so we doubt that she would be good with cats. Nicole is basically housebroken - there were a couple of times while nursing that she went indoors but we think it was just a case of staying with her pups. She is a low to medium activity dog that has not shown much interest in fetch or playing with toys. However, post puppies she may show more interest. She enjoys walks but needs some work on her leash behavior as she does tend to pull. She will be a sweet and loving member of her forever family. To learn more about Nicole, please contact your Home Visit Volunteer!

Pal
Pal is a very sweet puppy. He loves to be with people. He enjoys playing with other dogs. House trained, good with cats and kids. He is learning what belongs to him and what doesn't. So he will need lots of chews and toys of his own. He enjoys playing in the pool. He loves going for walks and does very well on the leash. He is a very loyal dog and very sweet.

Sadie25
Want a sweet little treat? This little 3 year old chocolate girl might be just right for you. Before her rescue by DLRR, Sadie spent her entire life in the backyard somewhere up in the White Mountains with her 1 year old pup. Her little pup has since been adopted. Sadie gets along very well with other dogs, both big and small. She loves to go for walks and is great on the leash – no pulling at all. She is also great in the car. Housebreaking is a work in progress, but she is extremely smart and will soon have that mastered. She is extremely gentle and mellow and would be so happy to find a nice, quiet, forever home where she can feel safe and secure.

Sunny4
Sunny is a great family dog. This 5-year-old yellow lab is a happy fellow who is wonderful with children. He is totally house-trained and can be trusted indoors when left alone. Sunny absolutely loves to lounge around outdoors in the sun, but he also likes to snuggle with his humans when he is indoors. He enjoys long walks, but he pulls on the leash and will need some training in this area. If Sunny sounds like the dog for you, please call to set up an appointment -- he would love to meet you!

Kellie
Kellie is a beautiful 4 year old chocolate lab that is searching for her perfect forever home. She is very sweet and loving and her favorite thing to do is be by her person and give cuddles. She loves to ride in the car, she walks very nicely on a leash and she gets along well with other dogs. If you would like to meet Kellie, please contact your home visit volunteer.

Bella6
Are you looking for a sweet little girl who just loves to be loved? If so, Bella could be the one for you! She is a 4 1/2 year old black lab mix who was rescued from a life all alone in a dirt backyard. She didn't even have a toy! The one companion she ever had was an un-neutered dog being "dog-sat" by the owner... and Bella subsequently had a litter of puppies all alone in that backyard. Now Bella needs a forever home where her family will love and pamper her. She deserves to hit the doggie jackpot! Bella is housebroken. She does not know any commands, but she takes correction well. Bella is a people lover who is affectionate and curious, but is not good with dogs or cats. She is looking for a family who will love her to pieces - could that be you? Call your Home Visit Volunteer to arrange to meet her!

Valorie
Val is the sweetest girl I've ever fostered. Other than an accident the first day, she seems to be house trained. She LOVES to sit up and beg for affection. She is good with dogs but we don't know about kids or cats. She only wants to receive belly rubs and show how much she loves her humans and canine foster companions.

Smiley
Hi!, my name is Smiley and I do smile all the time since I am in Foster. I am 1 YO. I love to play w/ my friends at the Foster. They are a lot bigger then me but, I am big at heart. I have found the big pillow around the house to lay on and I found a nice blacket by the big bed to sleep on at night. I am a lap dog and I fall asleep right away. I love attention. I know my name and some commands, i.e. sit down and come. I found a big mirror and I bark at that dog that I see. I am housebroken and like to ride in a car. I do put up w/ a crate.

Millie
Millie is a smaller female black Labrador mix that has some tan highlights between her toes and on her rump. She was found in a remote region of the Four Corners Area of Arizona alone and starving. She may never have been inside a building before. She is about 2 years old, has had one litter of pups and enjoys her regular feedings. She has put on some weight to where her ribs are just showing and weighs a little over 40 pounds. She is smart, good with dogs and children, interested in cats, a bit timid, house broken and learning her basic obedience commands. She is trustworthy in the house, does not chew or dig and is a very good companion, showing her affection with rubs and gentle kisses. She may have had some sheepherding experience, is very quick on her feet and, with training, would likely become a good agility dog. If you are looking for a lot of sweetness in a small package, Millie is your girl!

Outlaw
"Outlaw" should really be renamed "Deputy", as he would make a fabulous sidekick for a lab lover looking to adopt! He is a beautiful 2 year old yellow male Labrador Retriever who is ready and waiting for a family of his own. In his previous life he was kept outside 24/7 and therefore feels very comfortable outdoors; however, he is fully enjoying his invitation indoors these days and is very comfy sleeping by his foster Mom's feet or just being nearby. Outlaw is great with kids and dogs - for some reason he is shying away from men but we are already seeing progress there too. Outlaw loves the pool and is always up for a good game of fetch. He appears to be housebroken, as he has not had one accident in the house in the 4 days he has been at his foster home. He loves being close to his primary caregiver (as he is keeping my feet warm right now!) Outlaw has become accustomed to belly rubs and back scratches and frequent hugs and kisses, so there is no going backwards now! When his foster Mom is not home, he goes easily into the crate and has been sleeping there at night too with no complaints. He has been a dream to foster - we suspect the right family will feel very fortunate to have found him. We don't know if Outlaw is good with cats but would be happy to test it out if that is necessary.

Doobie
Doobie is a 3-4 year old boy who loves belly rubs and pets! He was a stray boy who landed at the pound quite underweight before DLRR rescued him. Since he's been with his foster Mom, every day Doobie becomes more active as he gets back into a healthy weight (70 lbs) He loves going on walks and jogs and likes to chew his select toys and bacon rawhides. When he encounters other dogs, big or small, he is always friendly and sniffs them to death. We don't know first-hand how Doobie cats, but expect he would be gentle with them just like he is with children. Doobie is housebroken, knows how to walk on a leash, sit, lay down, and roll over. He is a quick learner and eager to do what is asked for a treat. The one thing that Doobie has a hard time with is being alone for long periods of time. Although that is getting better, we would like Doobie to go to a home where he isn't left alone for long periods of time. He is ready to meet his forever family!

Zinnia
Zinnia is a sweet chocolate female, who is 7 years old. She gets along well with other dogs and loves people. She very much just wants to lay or sit beside you and keep you company. Zinnia is housebroken and will use a doggie door, although she prefers to go out the sliding glass door. She sleeps well through the night - not a peep out of her. She does pull on the leash when walked, but relaxes after you get going. She rides very well in the car and pays no mind to distractions. She would do well with small children and dogs (out of the puppy phase), but has not been tested around cats. Zinnia would make an excellent addition to any family.

Comanche
Comanche is a big boy with a handsome, blocky head. This 9 year old yellow lab tips the scale at 116 pounds. His ideal weight should be right around 100 pounds, so he has started exercising with his foster family and he absolutely loves going for walks. He walks well on a leash with a halti, except he tends to get a bit excited when he sees other dogs and he always wants to go say hi. He is quite friendly with other dogs, cats, and children. Comanche is gentle and will make a great family dog. He is housetrained with a dog door and is good about going into his crate when left alone. Comanche needs a human who is willing to monitor his diet and give him opportunities to exercise daily. In return, he will give you lots of love and companionship.

Gwendolyn
Gwendolyn is a sweet, quiet 5-year-old girl who loves to cuddle and give kisses. She came to DLRR as a stray after having puppies (probably not for the first time) and loves children. She is a perfect lady inside the house, in the car, and out and about, but she doesn't seem to know any commands or how to walk on a leash - although she doesn't really pull, she immediately tangles up herself and anybody nearby. She hasn't shown any interest in toys at her foster home but likes to play gently with other dogs and go for walks. She spends most of her time quietly snoring at her foster Mom's feet. Gwen has an untreatable eye condition that has almost entirely ruined her vision, but she gets around just fine in a stable environment. She is very obedient and sensitive so she should take easily to training adapted to her vision problem. For her safety, any pool at her new home must be fenced. For 65 pounds of easy-going love on stubby legs, she's your girl!

Tamera
Tamera is a medium sized, 2-3 year old chocolate lab mix who is very sweet, playful, and loving. She loves all people, and adores children of all ages and is very gentle with them. She didn’t know any basic commands when she arrived at her foster home, but she has come a long way since then. Tamera is now crate trained and knows sit, down, stay (kind of), and come. She is only crated when her foster parents are gone and she does very well. She really loves to play with her 2 canine foster brothers. Tamera has lots of playful energy but responds very well to correction and settles down and is nice in the house. Before she was rescued by DLRR she was an outside dog, so her foster parents have been working diligently with housetraining and getting her used to being inside - and she is doing well! She loves to go for walks and likes to sniff along the way. Tammy will be a great addition to a loving family that's ready for some puppy energy!

Mr.bob
Hello! Pleased to meet you! My name is Bob – Mr. Bob, if you want to be formal. But I am not really a formal kind of guy. As a matter of fact, I have been referred to as a "diamond in the rough", and after a nice bubble bath and some primping up, a lot of people have agreed- I clean up pretty well! You see, I was found as a stray and I ended up in the county animal shelter. The good people at DLRR bailed me out and now I am showing my foster mom what I know as she works with me on some of my social skills and manners. The good news is, I already know a lot of the basics and I am a quick learner and very good listener. The people who know me think I am about 5 years old. I am out of that crazy puppy stage but I like to be goofy at times too – I am very easy going! I am fully house broken and learned how to use a dog door on my own within 1 day. I love to go swimming and diving in after a ball to fetch it is one of my specialties. I also love to go hiking and for walks and I am even starting to learn how to jog beside a bicycle. I am an all around natural athlete! But I also like a good nap when we get home. If you let me get on the couch with you, I will keep your feet warm for as long as you like! Because I was a stray and didn't have a foster home for a while, I am kind of reserved about sharing my feelings, so when you first meet me, I might seem a little distant. But if you spend time with me I will open up my heart to you and be forever grateful for giving me a chance. I love to snuggle with my foster mom and even crawl under the covers. I've been told I am becoming a little bit of a velcro-dog now. Because I am such an easy going guy, I get along with almost all dogs and I really don't pay any attention to cats. I have even met some horses that were pretty interesting, but I am smart enough to keep my distance from them. I love children too, so if you have any, I am ready to give them lots of sloppy kisses! However, it might be best if they are a little older or at least experienced around dogs. I have been warned that I grab treats too fast and that might scare some little ones – but I am practicing on having more patience with that. I would always be willing to take some extra doggie school classes with you too. I would love to get to know you better. If you're looking for a great "salt of the earth" type of dog – I'm your guy! Love, Bob __._,_.___

Whitey
Whitey is a beauty inside and out. He is your typical easy going lab, "no hang ups" kind of guy that just wants to have a good time. He seems to fit right in immediately to the family setting, and appears to be very familiar with our kind of home, kids, dogs, lots of activity. He is a 1 year old who is very much a lab puppy with all the characteristics that come with it such as chewing, chasing, swimming, a little bit of jumping, but he is great at retrieving and seems to want to please. He sits/stays on command for a treat and seems to learn very fast the ins and outs of a new home. He will go in the crate if necessary without a big fuss. All in all with just a little bit of patience and training he would be a great addition to a loving family.

Paco2
Diesel and Paco came to DLRR together when their owner left the country and was unable to take them along. They are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. They aren't yet in a foster home, but here's what we know about them so far: Paco is a 4 year old, medium energy, chocolate male. He loves to go on walks and walks well on a leash. Paco is a sweet boy who is eager to please. He knows sit and will shake when asked. He can be protective of his brother Diesel, so these boys would be best in a home without other dogs. Paco also is wonderful with children!

Diesel2
Diesel is a low key and laid back 6 year old boy with a great personality - he pretty much loves everyone and everything! Diesel is almost completely blind due to Progressive Retinal Atrophy, so his ideal home will be understanding of his impending complete blindness and be willing to help him in this transition to keep him safe as he adjusts - which he is doing very well. Diesel will also need an adopter willing to keep up on brushing his teeth. They were just cleaned but will need some minimal continued maintenance. Diesel is very affectionate and likes to lean in for hugs and snuggles. He loves to rest his head in your lap and get his throat scratched. Diesel likes to walk around the yard sniffing and exploring and with supervision, taking a dip in the top step of the pool. Diesel is completely housebroken, trustworthy in the house, rides great in the car, knows his basic commands and take treats very gently. Diesel is good with kids and is learning how to be better with the kitties in his foster home - their playful, quick movements startle him. Sounds, however, do not startle him and his foster mom finds she has to vacuum around him! Diesel enjoys helping in the kitchen as a sous chef and being anywhere in the house his people are. He will be best in a home where he is with other dog companionship or with adopters that are home a lot. Diesel would like nothing more than to hang out with you all day every day!

Clayton
Hi! my name is Clayton. I am a milk chocolate three year old Labrador Retriever and I love being in my foster home. I have TWO main activities Number ONE is nosing, you know what that is? Whenever my fosters sit down, I make them pet me by nosing their arm to activate an arm and hand. Number TWO activity is that I have my fosters' other two dogs on an exercise program. We all love that. Balls are great play toys and I do retrieve (I think that is in my name). I also like to sleep in my crate, and I ride well in a vehicle. I do not like to have my Fosters out of my sight. Call and we can meet. By the way that fear thing at the pound was just to get out of there. Sincerely, Clayton

Sparkles
Sparkles is a 4 month old little black girl, who is a dream. She is very mellow for a puppy, but still likes to play with her foster mom and dogs. Sparkles knows how to sit and shake, and is housebroken to a doggie door. Her favorite pasttime is snuggling up to anyone, two or four legged and loves getting attention and belly rubs. She is quite good at taking direction and really wants to please. Her previous home had another puppy, kids and cats in it, so she has been quite socialized and should continue to be so. As any puppy, she will need training and someone to give her their love and devotion. This pup is truly a delight and will make any adopter happy to have her in their lives.

Edie
Edie is a fairly tall and slender 1-2 year old girl. She is medium level activity and loves to play fetch. She has not gone in the pool at her foster home yet. Edie walks quite well on a leash with a head collar and enjoys riding in the car. Her favorite toys are Nylabones - she likes stuffed toys but they do not last! Edie is now housebroken and can be crated but she does not like it much and barks. She is very good with other dogs and she has been excellent with the few young children she has met - we don't know about cats. She has a keen interest in throw cushions and we are trying to teach her that they are not toys. Edie is very much a "Velcro dog" - always wanting to be with her people - she would love to be a lap dog but will settle for cuddling up to you on a couch or bed - so she will enjoy a family where somebody is home most of the time. She is a sweet and gentle girl who's ready for her forever home!

Barney3
Don't swear off chocolate for this New Year's Resolution! Barney is the best kind of chocolate... the kind with a wagging tail and tons of kisses! Barney came to Lab Rescue after being found as a stray, and we've estimated his age at approximately 4 years. Still, Barney has the personality of a big puppy! He loves to play but can easily get overstimulated and excited, and then he sometimes forgets to listen. He's a quick learner, but he still has a lot to learn and needs a family committed to teaching him basic obedience. His foster mom has been teaching him the basics: sit, down, stay, come, leave it, and leash walking, and he's progressing pretty fast... Barney is very smart! Barney is housetrained and trustworthy left alone during the house. He loves to cuddle and is mellow indoors, but outside, Barney is a fetching machine! Barney would do best as the only dog in the home, and due to his energy level and size, a home with older children would be best. At this time, we don't feel that Barney would be safe with a cat; he's just too interested! Barney is a true diamond in the rough, looking for a home dedicated to making him really shine! Could this be you?

Liberty2
Liberty (Libby) is a 9 month old female black lab mix. She is small, weighs 42 lbs, and is very good in the house. She is housebroken, quiet, not destructive and gets along well with the small dog in her foster home, as well as their lab and grand kids. She know basic commands such as sit, stay and come, but she does pull fairly hard on the leash (we are working on that). Libby is very smart and seems anxious to please. She is not a barker, and she has a beautiful black, silky coat and an athletic build. The Vet said she would stay small and not get much bigger than she is now. She has had a previous injury to her right ear. A small piece is missing and healed a little uneven, but... it makes her look even cuter! She is a sweetie with a great lab personality - and good company. She definitely has the lab personality - affectionate but also likes to find a sunny spot and relax! Please contact us to learn more about Libby!

Fiona
Fiona is our DLRR Spotlight Dog!
Click here to learn even more about her!

Fiona is a beautiful 5 year old black lab. She is a great watch dog until you greet her and then she turns into a typical lab that licks you to death! Although she isn't quick to take to other dogs, with time she gets along with most male dogs. Fiona is housebroken and does enjoy the outdoors! During her trip to the dog park, Fiona quickly became friends with every human that walked in the door and got along great with children. She has never interacted with a cat, but we think she'd be just fine with time. Fiona loves soft chew toys and a nice cozy bed to snuggle up with and snore. She is a great dog with lots of love and is ready to find her new family!

Bruno
Hello Everyone My name is Bruno! Please don't let the name fool you, I am the sweetest dog ever. My foster mom said I use to live under a trailer, but I don't remember that because I now sleep on my foster mom's bed!! I am about 7 years old and I am housebroken. I love my foster brothers and sister, they are labs too! I don't know about cats, but I don't have a problem with the chickens that live here. My new foster home should be a home where all they want to do is love me. I love to go outside and play, but I love to be on bed the most! Are you the family for me???

Margot
Margot is a 1 year old, very mellow yellow girl. She was found on the Indian Reservation as a stray and apparently just had had a litter of pups. She has had a rough start for her young age, but is starting to feel better day by day. She is housebroken to a doggie door and is trustworthy when left alone. Margot is living with four Labs in her foster home, but doesn't interact much with them. She is shy when she meets new people and truly needs lots of love and confirmation that everything is going to be GREAT in her new home. She loves to go on car rides and walks great on a leash. You couldn't ask for a more loyal, cuddly, dog than this sweet girl. If you have an interest in meeting Margot, please give us a call.

Hudson2
H is for Handsome,
U is for Unassuming,
D is for Does very much like to be close to you,
S is for Snuggling,
O is for Obviously a great family dog,
N is for Not quite housebroken but working on it!,
2 is for 2 Good 2 Pass Up!
Seriously, Hudson is a sweet boy who needs a loving home. He is definitely mellow for a 1 year old, and doesn't seem to be a chewer (but likes the raw hides). He could be great with a family that has young kids, other dogs, or just humans. He is just a good boy as far as we can tell. He is still warming up to everyone in his foster home but by all indications he will be a wonderful companion for some lucky person out there.

Kirby4
Kirby is a 3 year old yellow (very blond) boy weighing 63 lbs and at his optimum weight. He is housebroken, crate trained and is not destructive. He is very loving, knows some basic commands, and we are evaluating how he walks on a leash. Kirby does not do well with small dogs or puppies - the family who previously owned him recommended that he go to a home with no small pets or young children. He has been the perfect gentleman with his foster family's male and female adult dogs of similar size. Kirby is just a little hesitant when he meets people but does not act scared. He is adjusting well to life in his foster home, where he does not bark and is a medium energy dog. He is a beauty!

Zeke3
Zeke is a good sized, handsome boy looking for his next hamburger! Or at least an extra scoop of kibble, as Zeke could benefit from gaining a few pounds. Zeke was found as a stray and is now just relaxing in his foster home. The first day and night at his foster home, Zeke let out a big sigh and then just settled in. Zeke gets along with his foster brothers as well with children of all ages. We are not sure how he is around cats as of yet. Zeke is fully housebroken, knows "sit" and "come" and is eager to learn, as long as there is a food reward! Zeke is very smart and will benefit immensely with obedience training. Zeke has shown interest in getting in the pool, but is figuring out that the water is just a little too cold for a swim right now. He does pull on the leash for about the first minute or so, but once he understands that he is out for exercise and fun, he starts to relax and works much better at heeling. Zeke loves to go for car rides, chase a tennis ball and likes playing with plush squeaky toys. Zeke is a quiet, kind, gentle soul who deserves a caring family willing to take their time with him. Zeke will bond quickly with his "people" and really would love to be an only dog in a home. And if you don't have a hamburger, a Milk bone will do!

Daisymae
Daisy is a beautiful, 4-year-old, Yellow English Lab. She loves people so much her entire body wags (all 85 lbs of her!) anytime her foster mom and dad come near. She hasn’t had much training, but Daisy is smart, eager to please and is quickly learning how to be a great family member in her foster home. She is house and crate trained, trustworthy in the house when left alone, rides well in the car, and walks great on a leash. After an exercise session she is happy to stretch out and sleep all day. She is still learning how to behave around dogs, but has learned to get along with her foster brother just fine. She would love an active owner dedicated to completing her socialization and training to help her be the best she can be! Give us a call to meet our Beautiful Daisy!

Bear10
Hi! My name is Bear and I am an 11 month old yellow male Lab and full of energy. I am still a pup, but I want to please my new family. I love my foster family's two labs and we share toys, bones, balls and play most of the time. I also get along with other dogs as soon as I meet them. I have already learned some commands and know my name. I do come a running if called! I am crate trained, but prefer the run of the house. I think that I am housebroken, my foster parents just have to watch me for my signals. I sleep by the side of the bed so I can keep track of the family. They say that I am a "velcro dog", because I like to stick close to you. I have Valley Fever and am taking medication for it but I don't have any obvious symptoms. If you would like to meet me, give a call and we can meet!

Lanie2
Hi, my name is Lanie. I’m a sweet, 6 year-old, 60 pound girl. I'm very smart and know many commands. In fact, I respond to sit, down, stay, come, off and out when my foster mom is instructing my foster siblings! I'm great in a car and love to follow my human companion around the house. I’m housebroken, completely trustworthy in the house when left alone and have mastered the doggie door. I love people of all ages and seem to get along with other dogs (large and small) but would prefer canine companions who have outgrown the puppy stage. I currently live with 3 male dogs and prefer the 4 year old, small one over the 2 playful 1 year olds. I would enjoy an active family/owner as I really like daily walks, especially since I could afford to lose a few pounds. I'm easy to walk with a pinch collar. My foster mom is teaching me how to walk better on a leash but I should continue with leash training upon adoption. I will make someone looking for a loving, intelligent, mature, medium energy level companion very happy.

Carly2
Carly is a sweet, 4 year old black female who weighs about 70 lbs. She is totally housebroken, and knows how to use a doggy door. Her former life must have been difficult because Carly is timid and cautious of her surroundings--loud noises frighten her. She is also fearful of children, so we recommend that she go to a home without children. However, she gets along very well with other dogs AND cats! She has made great progress on walks and now walks pretty nicely on a leash. Carly knows the commands sit and stay, and we're working on other fun tricks right now--she is very smart and wants to please. Carly has some separation anxiety, so she would do well in a house where she is not left alone very long during the day. If you're looking for a companion that always wants to be with you, then Carly is the dog for you! Carly is definitely a love and loves to give and get love and attention.

Samantha3
Samantha (Sammy) is a sweet 60lb, 12 year old female. She is delighted to be with DLRR because before coming to us, she was pretty much left outside all of the time with little attention or stimulation. She has immediately adapted from living outside to being housebroken. She gets along great with her canine foster siblings (male and female) and she is good with cats. She does not seem to have any particular health issues beyond the normal for her age. We do think she has some reduction of hearing. Sammy mostly loves to chill out on a soft doggie bed close to her humans. However, she gives a warm and loving greeting to one and all when they arrive and then goes back to relaxing. She enjoys a gentle stroll. Sammy is looking forward to really enjoying her sunset years. She would love to join you in a relatively quiet home where she can give and receive lots of gentle love. She is a delight.

Waldo
Waldo is a 3 year old black male lab. He is about 10 lbs underweight but is working on it. When he arrived at his foster home, everything seemed new and frightening but he is starting to get much more comfortable and is learning the world can be a safe place. Waldo is housebroken and mastered the doggy door in just a couple days. He knows basic commands like sit and shake, walks very well on the leash without pulling, and usually comes when called. He is a big lover who craves affection. Waldo just loves to lay across his foster family's lap and just be loved on! He gets along well with all the dogs he has come in contact with on our walks, including his 11 year old canine foster sister. Waldo most likely has never had any toys to play with because he is not sure what they are for, but he sure is curious as to what his foster sister is doing with them! Loud noises seem to scare him and riding in the car was terrifying for him at first but he starting to get a little more comfortable with it. Getting a bath was also a very frightening experience and he does not appear to have any interest in the pool. We are unsure how he is with cats but he has a huge interest in chasing rabbits. We are also unsure how he is with kids but so far he has been fine with all people he has come in contact with. He needs to get lots of positive reinforcement and lots of loving. If you'd like to learn more, please contact your Home Visit Volunteer!

Trixie2
Trixie2 is Shooter2's life partner! They must be adopted together. Shooter2 was adopted from DLRR in 2004 (and was renamed Buster, which is what he answers to now) but was recently returned to us because the family dynamics had changed. When Shooter was added to their family, they already had a Blue female Weimaraner named Trixie. When we took Buster back, they wanted us to take her as well because they had been together so long. Buster is 6 years old and Trixie is 7. Trixie is much more like a Lab because of her long-term relationship with Buster. They both love to play fetch and play with toys. Both dogs are very affectionate and like to be with humans. They would be best as only dogs and with older children. They are highly trained, uses a doggy door and trustworthy in the house, but do pull on the leash and need training with this. This is a great pair and anyone who adopts them will be very happy with them!

Rocky5
Hi. My name is Rocky. I am 5 years old, a rich chocolate color and very loving. I'm a big boy at 80 pounds but I'm really a gentle giant and my foster mom is keeping me active to help me loose a few pounds. I get along with other dogs (large & small), am housebroken and know how to use a doggie door. I don't chew, dig or bark (unless the doorbell rings) and am trustworthy in the house, provided I have a companion (2 or 4 legged). I am told that I am a little too interested in cats. I know they can scratch your nose! I love going for walks, squeaky toys, compressed rawhide, belly rubs & baths. I also love to chase balls and to swim, so I really need a home with a pool and active parents. I am a very respectful boy but I do need leadership. I can walk on a leash, sit, lie down and shake your hand on command. Pretty good huh? I am really happy to learn, eager to please and enjoy following my human companion around the house. I am very healthy according to the vet. If you want a great companion for hiking or other outdoor activities, I am your dog.

Zulu
Zulu is a beautiful yellow 5 year old boy. He is short and stocky and full of love. He is housebroken and has learned to use a dog door. He loves to play with other dogs, but he is not good with cats. Zulu is looking for someone to give him love and daily exercise and a bit of training. While he is sweet and gentle and great in the house, but he does not know the basics like sit and laydown. Zulu is also very vocal. He barks and growls when he plays, which can seem scary, but his tail is always wagging. It is just his way of showing you that he is having fun. If you have room in your life for this comical young dog please contact your home visit volunteer.

Brutus4
Brutus is quite the gentleman. This 6 year old chocolate lab will make a great companion or family dog. Brutus is great with children and also gets along with other dogs. He is housebroken and can be trusted when left alone in the house. Brutus loves to go on walks and although he pulls a little bit at first, he quickly settles down and is a great walker. After a walk or a game of fetch, Brutus easily calms down inside the house and is content to lounge on the floor by his human’s feet. He is pretty low energy indoors and just wants someone to hang out with. If Brutus sounds like the dog for you, please arrange a visit with him. He’s a great guy!

Max22
Max22 is our DLRR Spotlight Dog!
Click here to learn even more about him!

Max is a 7 year old beautiful 90 pound boy, medium energy level, who loves human attention, the pool and other dogs. He is housebroken and knows how to sit, and we're working on his manners when walking on a leash. Max is a very quick learner though, and will do anything to please his owner. His favorite thing to do is take naps and chew on his rawhides all day and then ride in a car and with his head out the window. Max has a lot of love to give and is looking for a family that will give him enough love and attention in return.

Coalette
Hi, I'm Coalette! I am a shy 3 year old female black lab, but boy, do I love to be loved! I am happy to run in the yard, or relax on the floor in the living room. I like to have my own space, but do well with other animals - even cats! I like older kids, but little ones can be a bit too much for me. Like most labs, I sure do eat well, and am sweet as can be. I have a great heart, and come out of my shell more and more every day. I do ok in the car, but it makes me feel more comfortable if I can touch someone while we ride. I do pretty well on a leash for walks, but haven’t learned many commands yet. My foster parents are working on those with me. My favorite activity is for you to sit on the floor and pet me so that I have your full, undivided attention! If you're looking for a quiet and loving companion, please call and ask for me!

Shammy
Shammy is a 4 year old 60 lb yellow, male who was recently given a clean bill of health after some health issues. He is a very sensitive guy who is gentle, sweet, calm, and gets along great with people and animals. He cannot be yelled at or treated roughly even playing or he becomes very nervous. We are sure this is due to past history. He is quiet, obedient and house trained and is not destructive. His previous owners found that he becomes anxious when left alone for long periods of time. His foster parents have never had an issue with that as he has always been with their dogs loose in the house. He should be adopted by someone who is retired or works from home or by a family with other gentle dogs. He is also great on the leash. Shammy is very affectionate and loves being a companion.

Bronx
Bronx is a handsome, 11 month old dark chocolate male puppy. He would love to find an active home with people that will love and exercise him. He currently lives with three other Labs and is trustworthy in the house and is kept busy with lots of toys and playmates. If he was an only dog, he might get bored and look for things to get into. He would be best in a family where someone is home most of the day. Bronx is housebroken to a doggy door, needs leash training, is not food aggressive and loves toys. He can play a little rough/mouthy with other dogs, so he needs to be with another playful dog. Bronx needs to learn most basic commands - he only knows sit and off (and of course NO). His favorite things are car rides, playing with toys, chewing bones and nylabones, receiving love and curling up at your feet for a nap. With the proper training and love, Bronx is going to be an exceptional Lab. If you are ready to commit to the training and patience this sweet puppy needs, please contact us!

Paddington
Paddington is the teddy bear you've been looking for! This handsome 6 year old male loves to snuggle and give affection. He is definitely a velcro dog who loves his people. He rides nicely in the car, is housebroken and has learned to use the doggie door. He will sit for food and walks nicely on a leash. Paddington gets along great with other dogs and loves kids. He doesnt mind not being an alpha dog as long as he gets his share of love from his people. Paddy met a cat this weekend and just looked at him then backed away when the cat raised his back. He is the definition of "Mellow Yellow"! It does not appear that Paddy is much of a swimmer. Paddington will need some additional training as he does not seem to know many commands yet beyond sit, but is very eager to learn. Paddington is waiting to steal your heart!

Hilo(maliki)
Hilo and Maui are 1.5 year old sisters that need to be adopted together. You will get two beautiful black labs for the price of one! They are both very sweet and loving, and are housebroken and dog door trained. They get along great with other dogs, they are learning to leave the cat alone, and they love, love, love children! Although the girls are gentle and mellow in the house, they will show you their puppy energy when they get in the backyard. They love dog toys and are becoming interested in chasing a tennis ball. If you have room in your home and your heart for these two amazing labs, please contact your Home Visit Volunteer.

Lady11
I love to play! I am very excited about meeting people and dogs, and I like to chew bones a lot. I am house broken, and love to run around. Once I get settled, I do like to sit and be loved as well. I do well with other dogs (large and small), cats, and think I would do well with kids but haven’t had much chance to find out yet. I really like to be active and I definitely have a good heart. I am working on being crate trained because my foster mom says I’m a little young to have free reign of the house while she’s at work. I like to be around company, and like to get attention from other dogs and people. I do not do very well on the leash because I don’t like it to tug on my neck, but I think I could learn how to do it because I think I would really like to go on walks once I figured out that you were coming with me. I don’t have much training, but my foster mom thinks I’m picking things up pretty quickly.

Vanessa
Vanessa is doing well in her foster home. She seems to be house broken. She gets along with the other 2 dogs in her foster home and loves to play with them, especially the younger one. She hasn't quite mastered the doggy door but we are working on it. She walks well on the leash. She knows sit, down, shake, and speak. She is very food motivated, but shows NO aggression with her food bowl, but if left alone she will sneak the food out of the other dog bowls. She is trustworthy when left in the house. She is a big lover and wants lots of affection. If you want a loving companion, Vanessa is your girl.

Bella7
Bella is a small 1 1/2 year old black female, about 45 pounds. Bella rides nicely in the car, walks calmly on a leash, knows sit and shake, is crate trained, and goes nicely into her kennel when asked. Bella has a lot of energy and is extremely happy and playful. She loves to run and chase and play. Bella is looking for a very active family. She is good with other dogs as long as they are not overly dominant and she is good with cats. Bella is housebroken and trustworthy when left home alone. She very much likes to be around people and animals alike. If you are looking for an active companion and loving dog, then Bella is the girl for you!

Magnum2
Magnum2 is a gorgeous 1 year old big black male tipping the scales at 100lbs. This handsome young boy is a total lover. He is a very thick boy with a BIG head!!. Magnum rides well in the car and gets along with the female lab in his foster home marvelously. Don't know about cats but he has shown an interest in small dogs. We can't imagine him having a mean bone in his body - more curious than anything. He is crate trained and seems housebroken. Magnum likes to bury bones and loves toys of all kinds (childrens' toys as well!). He just needs to know what are his and what not to take. He is eager to please and very responsive to commands. Around small children he is like a bull in a china shop, but he's learning how to maneuver around the little ones without knocking them over. To sum it up he is a gentle giant that would love to be your forever lap dog. Please call your Home Visit Volunteer if you'd like to meet Magnum!

Betsy3
Betsy quickly gained the nick-name Sweet Ms. B by her foster family. At 8 months old and on the smaller side she is a gentle, sweet lady who’s favorite thing is to be with her “people.” But pick up a ball and you’ll see her puppy side come out! Her second favorite activity is playing fetch, and she’s very good at it. Betsy is house and crate trained, good in the car, doesn’t bark much, and is great with children and dogs. She knows basic commands such as sit and stay. She is improving on the leash and will be easy to train as long as you give her plenty of affection! Give us a call to meet Sweet Ms. B!

Max23
Max23 is a 2.5 year old yellow male lab. He weighs in at about 72 lbs and is on the slight side. Max has proven himself to be housebroken and trustworthy when left home alone, even though he opens doors! He very much loves to be around people and he gets along well with other dogs. Max walks well on a leash and rides very well in the car. He has a lot of personality and is a bit goofy. Max knows sit and lay down. He would do well in an active household. If you're looking for a great family companion, then Max23 could be the dog for you!

Ashes
Hi - my name is Ashes. I don't know where that name came from so you are welcome to change it. I am 3 years old, black and female. I ride nicely in the car, pull on the leash (although I am getting better), and love all dogs and kids. I know sit and down (but I don't like it much!). I love little kids and treats and belly rubs. I really, really want to get to an actual home with a new family! Please call to meet me!

Norris
Hi, I'm Norris! I'm a 45 pound, 1 year old, playful, affectionate yellow lab mix. I'm trustworthy in the house with my foster canine companions and really enjoy going for daily walks and playing with my foster siblings. I'm not particularly fond of baths but am housebroken, eager to please & a quick learner. It only took a few minutes for me to understand the doggie door! I enjoy chewing on compressed rawhide bones and am learning to play with dog toys. My only bad habits are that I jump up when my foster mom comes home (but I'm learning the word 'off') and I pull on a leash, so I wear a training collar and am learning the word 'heel'. I would thoroughly enjoy a home with another young dog. Please give us a call and ask for ME!

Cadie
Cadie is just sweet, sweet, sweet! We're estimating her to be about eight years old, so she's well beyond all of that foolish puppy behavior. Cadie is a small but stocky 65 pounds, perfect for those looking for a smaller-sized Lab to love. In the house, she's mellow and trustworthy when left alone... assuming your trash can is safely out of reach, of course; like any self respecting Lab, Cadie will help herself to any and all food left unattended within her reach. Though she doesn't know any basic commands, she's well mannered enough that it doesn't much matter; Cadie doesn't jump, bark, beg, or chew. She's an angel on leash. Cadie LOVES children, and she's very gentle with even the littlest ones she meets on her walks through the neighborhood. Though there are no other dogs in her foster home, Cadie would do well in a home with other dogs. She's probably a bit too interested to live with cats, however. After she eats, Cadie loves to roll about on the floor and give her back a good scratching, which is sure to make you smile! More than anything, Cadie loves to be with her people, getting belly rubs and giving kisses.

Hickory
Hey there!! My name is Hickory and my foster mom tells me I am one cool dog! Since there are so many other dogs on this website I thought I should let everyone know what a great dog I am so I get the best forever home ever! I am a smaller lab - I think I weigh around 60 pounds, and I'm really mellow. I am housebroken, snuggle in my bed in the bedroom at night, walk very calmly on the leash, and ride quietly in the back of the car. I know how to sit and come when asked. I love all people, including kids and am friendly with other dogs - but I really don't have time to play with them because I'm too busy playing with my TOYS!! Give me a tennis ball (I REALLY love the ones that squeak!) and a soft squeaky toy and I'm in doggie heaven. But...I really need someone to play ball with me. I'd love to be at home with a family and yard where I could chase balls. Does anyone out there have one of those tennis ball launching machines? Maybe I'll go look on ebay... oh, I forgot, I don't have any money on me right now. Maybe my new family will give me an allowance... ?

Ben7
Hi everyone, my name is Ben and I am a 13 week old, handsome chocolate boy. I am very happy I landed with Desert Lab Retriever Rescue, because they got me the surgery I needed. As you can probably see, I only have one eye. I had to have my left eye removed, but I can tell you that hasn't gotten me down in the least bit. I've been told by my foster mom that I just love to gaze at her and my eye is a beautiful green. I also heard her tell my foster canine pals that she has never seen such a cuddle bug. I love everyone and everything. I am crate-trained and doing great. I am your happy-go-lucky pup, so I would really like someone who can spend lots of time with me and get me the training, exercise and nurturing that I need to grow up to be a wonderful part of my forever home. If you are interested in meeting me, please let us know.

Apollo4
Apollo is a sweet 1 1/2 year old chocolate male lab, about 75 lbs. He is very smart and eager to learn, and likes children and other dogs. Apollo is a medium energy boy who is housebroken and trustworthy in the house. He is good inside and out, and likes laying around the house. Cats don't seem to bother him - he is quite mellow for a young lab but is also fun and playful. He rides well in the car and is learning how to walk on a leash. If you would like to meet this handsome, lovable boy, please contact us!

Lucy9
Hi, my name is Lucy and I am a beautiful 1 1/2 year old, 60 lb female yellow lab mix. I am great in the house and can sleep in my crate all day long. I ride well in the car and am getting better walking on the leash. I love people so much that sometimes I jump but I'm learning the word "off". I am the BEST ball retriever you've ever seen! Chasing tennis balls, playing with other dogs and gnawing on bones are my favorite pastimes. I'm a super sweet little girl - I love my foster family's little children and their cat and just want to please them. I do have an abundance of puppy energy so if you are active and can keep me exercised, please contact my foster family. I'd love to meet you!

Tar
Hi! My "official" name is Tar, but I like to be called Manfred. I am a 95 lb, shiny silky black boy. I am 9 years old, but you'll think I'm lying about my age - I have a lot more energy than most dogs my age and like to play. My old family lost their home and could not afford to keep me. I'm looking for a family that will give me lots of attention and I will love them back like crazy! If you pick up a leash to take me for a walk, I will beat you to the door. I do know what a doggy door is for, if you have one, otherwise I'll give one bark and you will know that I want to go out. I have a very soft mouth and am a gentle eater. I also know sit and shake! I'm past all that puppy silliness and would love to show you what a fun, easy boy I am to have around and LOVE! Please give DLRR a call and ask for me!

Dancer
Dancer is a 1 year old, 55 pound sweetie pie puppy. He is a very playful and affectionate little boy! Dancer loves people and children but we don't know how he is about cats. He walks well on a leash and knows how to sit (especially for treats!) He is learning other commands like down and stay. He rides great in the car and seems to be a true lover of the water. He is housebroken and took about 30 seconds to learn how to use the doggy door. He loves to go for walks and plays really hard with one of his foster brothers which helps him use up some of his puppy energy. He is crate trained but has proven himself trustworthy and sleeps in the bedroom with his foster parents and their dogs. This boy is very eager to please and will make a great addition to a family with the commitment to exercise and training that a lab pup needs. Please call us to meet Dancer!

Misty9
Misty9 and Buster3 are a pair who need to be adopted together. Misty is a larger than life 5 year old black lab who absolutely couldn’t be any sweeter! She loves to play outside and go swimming. After swimming she enjoys “air drying” by running around enjoying the breeze it creates. She is kennel trained and housebroken. She sometimes requires a few reminders in the beginning of walking on a leash, but does well once she gets settled in. She knows sit, lay down, and will stay as long as she can see you. Misty is definitely not a guard dog as she rarely barks and is happy to show any visitors around! She does well with everyone, including children. Her newest hobby is making sure no cats come into the back yard. When the weather is nice, Misty enjoys a nice shaded spot in the backyard and will lay there without a care in the world. Misty and Buster have all the company they need and would prefer to be the only dogs in the home. If you're looking for a sweet, sweet pair, give us a call!

Buster3
Buster3 and Misty9 are a pair that need to be adopted together. Buster is a lover! He is an extremely loyal 7 year old guy who stays at his foster parent's side or feet all the time no matter what they're doing. Buster doesn’t care what the chore is -- he is there to help, but never in the way and will stay off to the side if the command is given. Buster enjoys the water - just not the deep end where he can’t touch. (We are still working on the swimming lessons.) He is housebroken, knows sit and lay down, and will stay as long as you are in sight. Buster loves his chew toys, bones, and playing fetch. He is still working on being kennel trained. Buster does well with children, but doesn’t pay a lot of attention to the children unless they have a treat or ball! He is best friends with Misty9 since they came from the same home, and are too close to break apart. It will do your heart a world of good to see how Buster and Misty interact and care for each other! If you're looking for an easy pair who will keep each other company and who are past all the puppy nonsense, call us!

Diver
My foster mom says I'm about the sweetest dog she's ever fostered. She also calls me a velcro dog because I just want to be close to her ALL the time. I love to follow her wherever she goes, and to rest my head on her leg when she sits down. I love when she pets me, and when she stops I'll nudge her arm to ask for more. I don't have any bad habits, really-- I get along really well with her pet dog (don't know about cats, but I think I'd be ok with them), I sleep well through the night next to her bed, I would never dream of touching anything in the house when she's gone, I know some commands, and of course I am totally housebroken. My allergy symptoms seem to be getting better with the medicine DLRR is giving me and a food change. My foster mom thinks I would be great with children of all ages because I am such a gentle boy. Oh, did I mention that I love to swim and play fetch? And that I love, Love, LOVE walks and am great on a leash? My foster mom says that my former owners must have fed me a lot of junk food, and that's why I am so overweight, but with proper exercise and diet, I'm sure I can slim down. If you think you are the right family for me (please, please please!), come see me soon! Love, Diver PS I'm a 4 year old boy, in case you were wondering.

Paula
Paula is a beautiful female yellow Lab who is about 5 years old and weighs in at around 67 pounds. She was found as a stray after apparently being hit by a car. When she was found she had open wounds, soft tissue damage and a fractured hip. DLRR got her to the vet, where they performed a major hip surgery. It was later determined that she had a small cancer tumor in one breast that required removal. Following that surgery, Paula is now cancer free and recovering well. Paula is a fast learner, minds well, and has adapted quickly to her foster home. Even though her activity level has been somewhat restricted, she shows a willingness to learn and a desire to play! She gets along well with her foster brothers, a pair of male Labs. She does not get along with the foster family's cat and is not recommended to be adopted by a family with cats. In relatively short walks in a quiet neighborhood she has demonstrated fear of cars and moving vehicles, but time and patience should heal those wounds as well. Paula gets along well with her foster parents' 9 year old granddaughter. Paula is a gorgeous gal with a wonderful demeanor and will make a great addition to her new family.

Stormy2
My official name is Stormy2, but my foster family calls me Flip and sometimes No. That is because of the cute little flip I have at the end of my ear. My birthday is 1/12/2010 so I'm a really young lab mix and am full of playful energy. I am working on my house training and am told I’m doing really well. Even though I’m still a little too small for the big dog door I do use it sometimes and since it is nice outside, my foster family leaves the back door open a bit which helps a lot. I’m also working on my basic commands. I’ve mastered sit, but stay, down and others are a bit harder for me. I also learned about the pool but haven't swam yet, but LOVE splashing around on the step. I am crate trained and love playing with my foster siblings. I love to play with my toys too, and am pretty good at recognizing the difference between toys and other possible fun items like shoes. My foster parents say I’m growing like a weed, but mostly in my paws and legs. I’ve only had 2 of my 3 puppy shots so I’m not allowed to go out in public yet. If you would like to arrange a meeting with me, please contact your home visit volunteer.

Coal
Coal is a handsome black male puppy, about one year old and 70 lbs. He is such a happy guy you can almost hear him laughing! The high point of his day is when his people give him belly rubs and play a game with him – it doesn’t get much better than that in Coal’s world! He also likes playing with his foster brother and chew toys. He is crate, house and leash trained. He knows sit and will do just about anything for a treat and a belly rub. So, this smart guy will be easy to train to learn other commands. He can play a little rough/mouthy with other dogs, so he needs to be with a playful dog. He rides well in the car – and if he can will curl up with his head in your lap. With the proper training and love, Coal is going to be an exceptional Lab. If you are willing to work with this happy puppy, please contact us.

Marco2
Marco2 is a 1 1/2 year old, large male black lab with loads of happy energy and great retriever skills. He is very handsome, knows to sit on command, goes in his crate easily and has very quickly adapted to his foster home environment where there are two male labs and 3 kids ages 8 yrs and up. Marco is an active young man who needs some training. He has been caught surfing the counter (whoops!) but is corrected easily. His foster family is working on housebreaking, but like most labs Marco desperately wants to please his people, so we know this won't take long! Just like most labs, Marco loves to be beside you. He is a good lab for someone looking for a hiking or running partner, a loyal companion and a devoted friend. He's a good boy! If you are ready to devote the patience and time to training and exercising a lab pup, you will be rewarded many times over. Call us to learn more about Marco!

Ben8
Hi, my name Ben is and I am a big, 2 1/2 year old yellow boy. I am housebroken and use a doggie door. I get along great with the three other dogs at my foster home and we all play together, but I don't know what a cat is. I play with balls and love to lounge on the steps of the pool. I do love to ride in a vehicle so I can be with you. The only thing I do not know is... how big I am! I am looking for an active family who love to play. If you'd like to meet me, give us a call!

Winnie2
Winnie2 Hi, my name is Winnie, I came to DLRR when my family lost their home and could no longer afford me. I am at a nice foster home while I search for my forever family. I just completed my intake physical and although I cannot read the report I am sure it says that I am “… a lean, mean, tennis ball, retrieving machine.” They tell me I am eight years old although I have the energy level of a five year old. I am trim at 82 pounds and am totally trustworthy, I have the run of the house and sleep with my three other foster brother and sisters (basically anywhere in the house). Did you see my pictures; I am either retrieving tennis balls or swimming. When we are inside I wrestle with the 2 year old puppy. After I tire her out I snuggle with the humans and help them watch TV. I am in search of an active family that hikes, or jogs or swims. Once you meet me you will know that I do not seem like I am eight years old. Ok, enough typing, where did I leave my tennis ball? Hope to hear from you soon! All my love Winnie

Opal
Opal is a very loving and pretty 8 year old lady. She is a great companion and like to be wherever you are. Enjoys playing ball and going for walks. She does well with other dogs but would love to have you all to herself to receive all of the loving. Opal does not jump up, so she would be good with children that know how to respect and handle a dog. She is housebroken and uses a doggy door. During her physical it was discovered Opal has diabetes and requires an insulin shot twice a day. If Opal would fit in your household, please contact us -- she would love to meet you!

Bullet3
Bullet is a happy, healthy 4 year old yellow boy in need of a loving home. He was previously an outdoor-only dog and is working on developing appropriate indoor behavior at his foster home. So far, he is doing an excellent job with his house-breaking skills; he only had one potty accident in the house on his first day. Since then he has used the backyard every time and is starting to get the hang of using the doggy door. Bullet needs training and craves human attention. He also has lots of energy and because of his large size - 95 pounds - he needs a strong leader. Bullet has been fine with the children in his foster family, but because he can be rambunctious at times he would be better off with older kids. Mostly he needs a patient family willing to put time into his training. He is a very affectionate dog who wants to please his humans and be included in family activities. If you are willing to invest time, patience, and love in Bullet’s training, he would love to meet you and will give you lots of love and companionship.

Spencer4
Hello! My name is Spencer and I am seven years old. I came to DLRR in April of this year with some very serious skin issues. My foster mom has taken great care of me and I am well on the road to recovery. My hair has started to grow back and I am soooo handsome, as you can see from my picture! I am very sweet and just love to be around my people - and I like other dogs too! I love to run and swim in my foster mom's pool. My favorite hobby is lizard chasing and - let me tell you, I am a great hunter! I am looking for a forever family that just likes to hang out or go for long walks. I am house trained and have fabulous manners, so if you are looking for a great dog, come and meet me!

Huck
This Huck is on a journey to be your new best friend! Along the way he will shower you with hugs & kisses as Huck loves to be with people - both big and small (great with kids!). He is a great snuggler! Huck also gets along well with other dogs, but we arent too sure how he is with cats because he does like to run & chase & play. Our adventuresome Huck was found as a stray and because he was alone for so long, is needing to gain a little weight. But he is a smart fellow & will sit and shake your hand for a treat. And he even takes treats from you nicely - he does remember to use his manners! Huck needs some work on the leash, but with regular exercise, his leash training should be a breeze. Huck is a neutered black male, who is approximately 1 year old. We are not certain yet if he is housebroken, but because he is so smart, he should learn very quickly. Huck still has puppy energy but is ready and eager to take you on your next adventure!

Ted
Ted is a beautiful lab mix - we have been told he is a Weimador (Lab & Weimaraner mix). He is under two years old and is a sleek, shiny onyx black. Ted is totally housebroken and knows all the basic commands incredibly well. He plays so well with his lab foster brothers and even plays adorably well with the kids in his foster home (ages 8 and up). Ted is a young active guy who just wants to be included in a family. He should be crated when family is not home to prevent "boredom mischief" but he does beautifully well in the crate. Ted needs a family that has the time and patience to spend with a young lab. He has a lot of love to give and it is easy to fall in love with this deserving young pup!

Messina
Messina loves to snuggle. She enjoys running around the yard or resting her head in the lap of someone who wants to rub her ears. She is fantastic with children & enjoys being around them-her favorite thing in her foster home is helping get the kids ready for bed (sticking her nose in the tub, listening to books & tucking the kids into bed). She loves to ride in the car, is great on a leash and only pulls for the fist few minutes. Messina doesn’t chew & is not a barker. She is house trained and just really wants to be part of a real family!

Samantha4
Samantha is a 6 1/2 year old yellow girl who is very affectionate and loves everyone! She gets along very well with other dogs (we don't know if she likes cats or not). Although she was primarily an outside dog before she came to DLRR, she is housebroken and has adapted to the house quite well. She knows all basic commands. She walks pretty good on a leash, but walks best when a Gentle Lead is used. She rarely barks. Her favorite pastime is swimming! Samantha is a little overweight but her foster family is working on helping her slim down. Give us a call to meet Samantha!

Dewey3
Single, Black Lab Gentleman seeking loving committed, forever relationship: Hi I'm Dewey. I have been told I am a handsome heart throb and it is true! My coat is thick and jet black, my teeth are sparkly white, I have fresh breath, intelligent bright eyes and three strong legs. I am around 2 years old, a total love, very easy going, super smart and well behaved. I am on the smaller side, 60 lbs and I am very accomplished. I am housebroken, know "sit", "down" and it took less than 10 minutes for me to learn to sit and "wait" at the door when entering or exiting the house and "in" to go into a crate or the car. I am good with other dogs and kids, but playmates that are too playful can knock me down. I am easy on a leash and want to share sunset walks, yummy treats, and snuggling with a special someone. Oh, and my missing rear leg? No problem at all. I am up in the car in a flash to go adventuring with my foster parents. I have overcome adversity with my huge heart and a positive, happy attitude. I do admit I am sloppy around the water bowl, but no one is perfect! My foster Mom says everyone who meets me adores me and my gorgeous smile. Interested? Call your adoption coordinator, 'cause I would love to meet you!

Duffy
Duffy is a healthy, 3 year old sweet, affectionate, black male who melts your heart with his smile. He is crate trained, housebroken and loves swimming in the pool. He is good with children but currently prefers to be an only dog. Duffy walks nicely on the leash after the initial excitement of "Yeah! I'm going for a walk!" He knows "sit" and "lie down" and is working on "stay." He is a real charmer who loves to hang out with the family. He follows his foster mom around like a shadow, though not in the way. He loves to be near people and often curls up at your feet (or on them!) Come see this sweet big boy and consider Duffy for your next new family member.

Maisie
A “Maisie” Grace…how sweet the sound! Actually I’m a pretty quiet one year old black girl and they tell me I’m adorable in every way. I have proven myself to be already housebroken (no doggie door at my foster house). I get out often during the day and sleep through the night on the floor by my foster parents' bed. I tend to be shy and cautious, although I can’t communicate why. I like the cat at my foster house, but she doesn’t like me, so we mostly keep our distance from one another. I do not live with any dog buddies, but I have behaved well with the other Labs at the DLRR events. I also have been very receptive to any attention from other people at the events, both adults and children. I walk pretty well on the leash, ride nicely in the car and I will “sit” for a treat (and sometimes without!). I won’t stray far from your side whether you want to lie around watching TV (you pick the show), hang out in the kitchen, read the newspaper, nap, or go for a walk. I will be your best friend if you’ll have me!

Wanda
Wonderful Wanda is a gentle, sweet soul. She is a small/med size, 2 year old black lab with a white spot on her chest and chin. She is underweight, but we are working on that. She has puppy-like moments of play, but has not exhibited any of the destructive behavior of a puppy. Wanda appears to be great with kids and dogs alike, seems to be house trained, and crates easily (but her foster mom is not sure it is even necessary to crate). Wanda is really only concerned with getting love and food - in that order! Wanda possesses all the best qualities of a lab and will make someone very happy!

Heidi3
Heidi3 is a very young 7 year old girl. She loves to swim, play fetch, go for car rides and go for walks. She is a good watchdog, but greets new people lovingly. When Heidi is outside she is ready for action, but inside when it is time to settle down she is right by your side. She likes to follow you wherever you go and be involved with your activities. Heidi is housebroken and uses a doggy door. She is not destructive but will counter surf if you leave something good to eat on the counter. Garbage cans are a temptation as well. If you can give Heidi an active home full of love, contact DLRR!

Harper
Harper is a 5-year-old sweet boy looking for his forever home. He has had wonderful manners in his foster home so far. He appears to be house-trained, knows how to use the dog door, and doesn’t chew on anything besides his rawhide bones. He has gotten along well with kids, adults & the resident dog. Harper is quite calm in the house and is usually content to follow his humans around and just hang out with them. When given the opportunity, he loves to play ball and go on walks. He needs to learn some manners on the leash as he gets quite excited and pulls when he sees other dogs and cats in the neighborhood. This handsome Lab has a lot of love to offer. Please call to meet this special boy!

Spock
Spock is a VERY LARGE 6 year old yellow male. He is working on just being LARGE. He came to DLRR at 120 pounds, has lost a few BUT will end up at 100 pounds or slightly more at his correct weight. He is a low activity dog - not into "retrieving" - he figures that if you have a tennis ball and throw it away, you must not want it. He is good with other dogs but is most attached to people. He will follow you and always want to be laying close or leaning against you. Spock is SOOOOOOOOO MELLOW and sweet. He is quite good on a leash and happily gets into a vehicle to go places. He is housebroken and trustworthy when left alone. He will counter surf if there is something of interest and even the 42 inch section of our countertop is not out of reach for this big guy. He is a bit slobbery with his water bowl. Spock has to take seizure control meds and will need a family committed to giving them to him on a twice daily schedule and getting blood work periodically to check appropriate levels. The good news is that the meds cost less than $10 per month. We cannot stress enough what a sweet boy he is. THINK GREAT BIG TEDDY BEAR!

Max24
Anyone looking for beautiful, pedigreed, 6 year old yellow labs brothers (Jake21), with perfect dispositions and guaranteed to be loving and attentive to future owners? Dogs that walk well on leash, and in sync I might add! These are some of the attributes of Max and Jake. They get along great with other dogs and humans alike - it just makes you smile to look at them. Max is a swimmer, many times a day if you have an unfenced pool. Jake is such a happy fellow that he has what we call "happy tail" - a phenomenon that happens when these happy guys get stuck in a kennel for too long and their tail bangs against the walls over and over until it bleeds. It is clearing up now that he is in a foster home and should be good as new shortly. Jake also has an ear infection which, with medicine, is nearly cleared up. Call to arrange a visit if you are interested in these perfect gentlemen.

Hunter9
Hunter is a handsome, 3.5 year old male. He has done so much work with his training and will fit perfectly in a home with a family who will work with him on a constant basis. Hunter is eager to please and does well on a leash with the new commands he has just learned from a week long training camp at Partners; his family will get two free sessions with him at Partners as well as discounted sessions to further his training after that. He is working hard on being house broken and behaves very well inside. He loves to be around people and would be very happy as an only dog. Hunter is a sweet boy with a big heart; If you have the time to put into working with this amazing dog, he will prove to be a very loyal and well behaved companion. If you want a loyal, loving forever friend, call!

Sharoo
Sharoo is a 3 year old chocolate boy who is looking for his forever home. He would love to find a family who will include him in their everyday activities. He is great with kids, loves to be around people, and is well-behaved around other dogs. Sharoo was previously an outdoor dog with little to no training. DLRR put him through training boot camp at Partners Dog Trainers and he has made tremendous improvements in his behavior. His adopters must be willing to continue in his training - 2 free sessions with Partners are included in his adoption! Sharoo is now in a foster home where he makes every effort to please his humans. He has mastered the dog door and is making good progress in his housebreaking. He is very well behaved in the house -- no chewing, counter surfing, or jumping on the furniture. Mostly he just wants to hang out with people and get the love and attention he so much deserves. Give us a call if Sharoo sounds like the dog for you -- he would love to meet you!

Conrad
Hey everyone, check me out! I am Conrad the Super Lab... I am here to "Love, Obey, Protect and Play" - that is my motto! I am quick, sleek, clever and a luscious shade of dark rich chocolate. I am a well mannered 5 year old, totally housebroken, completely crate trained and I don't pull on the leash. I know "sit", "down", "wait", "in", and am working on "stay". I do not chew, dig, drool or bark for no reason. I will "alert" if strangers come around, as I have protective instincts. I LOVE my Kong toy and I retrieve like crazy, but when I get to go to work with my foster Mom I can tone it down and am content to hang out under the desk (or in her chair!). I am super affectionate, love to snuggle, and give a paw high five. I like kids, and although I am a little nervous around other dogs, if they are well mannered I will settle down. Not so sure how I feel about the feline in my foster home though. My foster Mom says I am an elegant clown that makes her laugh. Need a super dog? Give me a call!

Charly
Charly is a wonderful 3 year old chocolate boy. He has acclimated well to his foster home and gets along great with their senior male lab (and ignores the cats!) Charly is good on a leash, with no pulling and no complaining. He came to DLRR with both his ears infected, but was very patient with his ear cleanings and medicine administration and now the infections are all cleared up. Charly has slept in the crate at night with no whining, but he greatly prefers a real bed! There have been no issues in the house. Charly is very loving and definitely enjoys the life of a pampered pet - he will make a great addition to a lucky family!

Isis
Isis is a very happy, medium size black lab, age 2-4 years old. He is housebroken and knows all his basic commands. He is crate trained but has never tried to chew or damage anything in his foster home. He is great with his two young male foster dog brothers as well as the three children. Isis is incredibly smart and is always wanting to please - he anticipates your next move by reading your body language and eagerly joins you in your task at hand. He loves chasing a tennis ball the most but he also enjoys walks, sitting as close as possible to his human friends, and swimming! He has incredible agility and can literally F-L-Y through the air after the ball. He is an active lab but knows when it is time to calm down too. He would be a great addition to an active, loving family. Give us a call if you would like to meet this tail waggin', ball chasin' happy labby!

Scotch
My name is Scotch and I am a 7 month old yellow boy. I have lots and lots of energy, so I am looking for a forever home that is very active. I would love to find a home with other dogs, because chasing and wrestling make me so very very happy. I do not have any real obedience training, but if you offer me love and treats I am eager to make you happy. If you are looking for a companion to jog and hike and swim with I am your boy. Quick, call your home visit volunteer so that we can meet.

Dudley2
I can’t stand it…I’m just so handsome! And humble:) I don’t know how I ended up homeless? I’m very black lab looking, only smaller...kind of a “mini me.” Having me around is almost like having a puppy! We think I’m 3 years old. I like car rides and walking, and I show interest in playing ball and chewing doggie toys. I have behaved around the bossy cat, and mostly ignore her unless there is a barrier between us (like the baby gate)...then I’m just confused. I think I would like sharing my home with a doggie buddy, because I show friendly interest in the other dogs I come across. I will sit and lay down for a yummy doggie treat. I have not had any accidents in the house, so we suspect I may already be housebroken. I want to do things…I am not a dog that just wants to lie around watching TV. I’m a pretty good boy, overall! Oh...we also found out that I do like sleeping in the bed with my family, rather than alone in my kennel....I promise not to snore!

Mr.smith
Mr. Smith or "Smithy" as his foster family calls him, is a Lab/ Teddy bear mix! Smithy is a five year old black male lab with a white spot on his chest. He is totally housebroken and totally trustworthy in the home. He has no problems with the other two male labs in his foster home, but doesn't really play - just lives amongst them. We wouldn't imagine cats would be an issue as there is no prey drive here, only "love drive". If you want a devoted companion that walks well on a leash (the 8 yr old child in his foster home is currently his dog walker!), gives you adoration and love on demand, and is truly no trouble at all, come meet Mr. Smith!

Princess5
Princess is a 2 1/2 year old, 70 lb black lab mix with a darling puppy face. She is completely housebroken and doggie-door trained, and is a fun girl who knows how to enjoy what life has to offer! Princess will tell you she particularly likes "accidently" falling in the pool and retrieving tennis balls, nibbling her canine foster brother's tail while chasing him in the pool, playing around with other dogs at the dog park, finding just the right spot in the kitchen to watch her dinner get prepared, going for long walks (of course), going on a car ride, napping besides her foster mom's feet during the day, and most of all being loved and petted by people she loves. She is good with other dogs, though she seems to be more attached to people. Princess is quite active and fun outside but surprisingly calm inside the house. She is good in the house when she is left alone and will greet you with enthusiasm. She will need some basic leash training but will master that in no time as she is smart as a whip. Princess would love to find a forever home where she will be a proud family member and can have fun in a yard with a pool. Give us a call to meet Princess!

Zipper
Zipper is a small (37 lb), super cute, 1 year old male, yellow Labrador mix who loves to swim. He gets along with other dogs and will be happiest in an environment with a young, playful dog or with an active family that gives him daily exercise. Zipper is not recommended in an environment with cats. Zipper absolutely loves children - he's so patient and gentle - and will quickly become their best friend. Zipper knows basic commands like sit & down and is working on stay. Zipper loves to go for long walks; He will pull on a leash initially but responds to correction and is learning better leash manners. He seems housebroken & sleeps nicely on a dog bed in the bedroom through the night. He is very smart and eager to please. If you are looking for a sweet, loyal, handsome, small family dog with lots of energy and love to give, Zipper could be the guy for you! Please call us to schedule a meeting.

Sparky4
Meet Sparky – a 4 year old male lab mix, with a sparkling personality! Sparky has a wonderful, playful and sweet nature and loves to give kisses to humans and dogs alike. He’s definitely a lover - not a fighter! Sparky is a true retriever, as he loves to fetch balls, frisbees, etc. (He’ll even manage to fit two tennis balls in his mouth if necessary : ). He absolutely LOVES water and gets along great with other dogs, greeting them all with kisses. He is completely housebroken, extremely well behaved, doesn’t jump on furniture and walks fairly well on a leash. Sparky thoroughly enjoys his daily walks and playtime in the backyard, but also knows when to stop and relax in the house. He’s completely comfortable just laying on the floor, but doesn’t mind snuggling up next to you and having his belly rubbed either... Crating is no problem, although he has been fine when left alone with the other lab in his foster home. He is great around kids, extremely smart and knows basic commands, such as sit, shake and stay. Meet adorable Sparky and be prepared to fall in love…

Augie2
Augie is a gorgeous 2 1/2 year old, 70 lb yellow male with a beautiful English lab body. He knows sit, shake, down and rides well in the car. He needs more practice on the leash, but overall he is an exceptionally super sweet boy. Augie is very gentle around his foster family's two small children and is great about NOT jumping on anyone. He would love to be the only dog in his new home and he not quite sure about the cat thing. Augie is learning the dog door and is figuring out where to do his business. He is quite mellow and very well behaved for a young lab. He loves fetching tennis balls, swimming in the pool and having water sprayed into his mouth. This smart and eager to please young boy would do best in a home with no felines and he would love a family who is home a lot. Call us to meet "Mr Lover Boy"!

Charlie10
Charlie10 is a very handsome dark chocolate male Lab age 5. He is looking for a home that will give him love, companionship and exercise. He enjoys swimming and chewing on bones. He is housebroken, uses a doggy door and is good inside the home. He is great with children, other dogs and cats. If you are longing for sweet dark chocolate goodie, Charlie10 is for you.

Candie
Candie is a large 5 year old yellow female lab. She is very good with other dogs (both male and female) and enjoys a game of chase/fetch, but in the house she settles down nicely. Candie is showing interest in the pool but no dips yet. She loves attention and belly rubs, knows one or two commands, and we are working with her on a leash. We do not know how she is with cats. Candie is housebroken and can be crated when left. She is a great dog who's looking for a great family!

Biscuit3
Biscuit3 is a loving red male age 2. He enjoys being with people and being involved with whatever you are doing. He is housebroken to a doggy door and good in the house. He is a good watchdog but does not bark excessively. He sometimes softly jumps up, so would be best with older children. He is good with other dogs but would prefer to be your only pet. He rides great in the car and likes to go for walks. If he would fit in your family, please contact us or come to one of our events and meet him.

Smiley2
Smiley is an 18 month old gentle, sweet yellow lab. For such a young lab he appears to be out of the puppy phase early as he has incredible manners in our foster home. He is totally housebroken and trustworthy so there is no need to crate him when we are out of the house. He has adapted very quickly to our foster home environment which contains 3 children and two male labs. He enjoys being near the action but doesn't thrive on stirring up the action. He lives up to his name with his ever present happy-go-lucky smile! What a joy this young gentle lab will be in a loving home. Be the first in line to come meet Smiley!

Hugger
Hugger is a 3 year old male chocolate Labrador Retriever. He has not been tested with other dogs or cats, however he is wonderful with humans (children and adults alike) that have walked him daily at the kennel. Due to his submissive nature, we expect that he'll be great with other dogs. He is healthy and happy and pretty good on a leash. He loves belly rubs and being close to human companions.

Johnny
Hi! My name is Johnny and I’m a black one year old male lab mix, about 50 pounds, with a beautiful sleek coat and a white chest blaze. I’m kind of lanky, an athlete if I do say so myself. I probably won’t get much bigger, and boy do I love to play. I went to a DiamondBacks game with the DLRR folks and found out I’m a lot faster than the ball players and probably can catch better too! At the game I met several other dogs and all manner of fans and got along great with everybody. I enjoyed nuzzling toddlers still too small to walk by themselves and cuddling up to older people in wheelchairs. Did I mention that I LOVE TO PLAY? Even better, I haven’t got a destructive or aggressive bone in my body. Next to being a “retriever” (but not yet from the water) I much prefer to roll over on my back and let you rub my tummy. I like to car ride and if you help me up I really prefer the shotgun seat, or to help you drive, but I’ll ride any place you put me. I know my name, come when I’m called, sit and shake. I think I’m house broken but after this stint in the shelter I may need a couple of reminders. To be your forever partner I really need just two things: people to play with me and probably a “gentle leader” for a few days, to help me stop tugging on the leash. Oh yes, one last thing, if you come visit me at the shelter please be patient. I’ll be so excited to see you that I may not calm down right away. Most of all, I’m just a real lover who desperately wants to please and be in a new home, and oh yes... PLAY!

Luigi2
This guy is a total sweetie! Luigi is a wonderfully puppy-like 18 month old black neutered male. He's got so much love to give, as is obvious by his tail, which wags a mile a minute. He has adapted very well to his foster home, which includes two other labs, male and female, a doggie door, and stairs. He plays great with other dogs, and does these hilarious somersaults when he's running around the back yard. Plush toys are his favorite, but he also likes chewing on nylabones. He hasn't chewed on anything (yet) that he's not supposed to, which is awesome. We've found that he LOVES bike rides. He does really well on the ride - he's just happy to be out running and with people. Like most labs, he also loves playing in the hose. Luigi knows sit, and possibly lay down. He does jump a little, but it's only because he's got so many kisses to give. :) He takes gentle correction very well. He is crate trained, getting better on his potty training every day, and is such a sweet boy. He wants nothing more than to be with a forever family that he can trust and love. Luigi sends everyone lots of smiles and puppy kisses!

Fargo2
Pssst, wanna play? I do! My name is Fargo and I am a 10 month old black lab mix. I am just a whole bunch of love and fun, wrapped up in really thick, soft, silky black fur. My Foster Mom says I am a champion at cuddling, am really smart, and I have one of the most beautiful Labrador heads she has seen. I sleep through the night in my crate and am a very good boy. I like other dogs and love kids. Sometimes I love kids too much so older kids are better for me. I am busy learning basic obedience and boundaries. Everyone says I am learning quickly - so far no accidents in the house! The one thing I am missing is a family of my own. Could it be you?

Zoey6
Zoey6 is a stunning blonde, on the smaller side. She came to DLRR with a nasty laceration on her rear leg, but we are very happy to report that her leg has just about healed and she no longer has to wear that funny collar. She is very, very affectionate, good with other dogs, and we do not know how she is with cats. She walks quite well on the leash now. Like any 2 year old, she has big bursts of energy but also spends some nice quiet time. We think she would be great with kids - but in her exuberance, she might knock over the really small ones. She will need a family willing to put in the time to give her basic training. She is showing interest in the pool and likes to chase a dog that's chasing a ball. She does an awesome "FLOP DROP" to get belly rubs. What a cutie!

Heidi4
Heidi is a very sweet 7 year old girl who loves to be with her humans. She enjoys walks, is good on a leash, and is perfect in the car - lays down without a peep for the ride. She is housebroken and trustworthy when left alone. She doesn’t seem to be very interested in her foster brother so she may be happy to be an only dog. Heidi loves to cuddle and be close and will give you a kiss on the cheek if you ask for it. She knows sit and shake and will take a treat very ladylike from your hand. Heidi will make a wonderful companion. Call us to meet her!

Beatrice
Beatrice is an extra sweet 4 yr old 70 lb black female lab . She doesn't jump, dig, bark, or counter surf. No bad manners to speak of. She is very gentle around her foster family's small children. She gets along great with cats and dogs. Beatrice doesn't seem too interested in the pool but loves to dip her head in the water dish. B rides great in the car and walks well on a leash. She seems potty trained and is very low maintenance and energy. She is an extremely loving lab that is eager to please and would fit in with an equally loving family. Call us to meet this super family dog!

Dakota10
Dakota is a big, 75 pound, lovable black lab mix who is pretty low energy for a 3 year old. "Big D" has definitely had some training because he knows sit, down, come and stay, he walks well on a leash and is good with both cats and dogs. He absolutely loves kids and is very calm and gentle around even the smallest. He also rides great in the car. Dakota is housebroken and is completely trustworthy in the house. He enjoys playing with his canine foster sister, giving kisses, and laying on the cool floor next to his family. This sweet guy would be happy going for long walks or just chilling with the family back at the house. If big "D" sounds like your guy then give us a call.

Abby17
Abby17 is a petite 61 pound chocolate girl. She has a luxurious silky coat and always has an expressive, inquisitive look on her face. Abby also likes children, but does take treats quickly, so experienced kids or those over 8 would be best around Abby. She is extremely friendly and gets along well with others dogs and cats. She would do well in a variety of households - either as an only dog or with other dog siblings. Abby is about 5 years old and appears to have recently had puppies. Abby is an active and independent girl who is going to need some additional training, but appears to be a very fast learner. We are uncertain if she is fully housebroken, however, she immediately went in and out the doggie door while visiting at a foster's home & she found it on her own without being shown how to use it. She also was not afraid of the swimming pool, but was more interested in exploring her surroundings and getting to know the other dogs than going for a swim. Abby is very eager to please and is treat motivated, so training should be easy. Abby deserves an attentive and loving family who can spend time with her basic training & who will cherish her love in return.

Dale
Dale is a very handsome 2 1/2 year old dark chocolate male. He is a very calm Lab in the house, but get a leash out and he gets excited! With his previous owner, he was used to running 5 miles and did a marathon last year. He is good with children, other dogs and cats. In the past Dale has always been the only dog and he is still learning that it is ok to be in a group of dogs. He is housebroken but does not use the doggy door — we are working on that. He is very good left alone in the house and does not get into any trouble. Dale enjoys playing fetch and swimming, and rides great in the car. If you need a running companion, Dale could be the Lab for you. Please contact us or come to one of our events to meet him.

Paige
Paige is a small beautiful 2 year-old chocolate girl with lots of love to give. She loves to swim and chew on bones, play with toys, and explore her surroundings. She is working on learning her basic commands including what is okay to chew and what is not. She seems housebroken. And like her brother, she responds to "no" and is very eager to please. She is great with small kids and other dogs. Cats are alright with her, too. But, if they start a game of tag she will want to play! She is a very sweet and gentle little Lab. If Paige and Colonel sound like the Labs for you, then please call to meet them- they will steal your heart with their beautiful hazel eyes. You get two great dogs for the price of one!!

Colonel
Hi, my name is Colonel and I am a beautiful chocolate boy! I am 2 years old and way past the puppy phase. Don't get me wrong, I love to exercise and run. But I promise that I will not chew or jump. I will also lounge on the top pool step and perfect my tan, but only if you swim with me! I am working on learning my basic commands. I am very smart and already know what "no" means. That's a good start, right? I love a good, comfy dog bed and a nice bone to chew- but nothing makes me happier than love and attention! Like a true gentleman, I take treats very gently and ride well in the car. I love other dogs, cats, and all people. What would make me happiest, though, is a forever home of my own. If you are looking for a gentle teddy bear disguised as a Lab, I am the guy for you! Please call to meet me so I can wow you with my beautiful hazel eyes. Oh, and one more thing: my sister Paige is my very best friend and we have to be adopted together. She's nice- you'll love her, too. We'll be waiting to hear from you!

Sweetie
Sweetie is a beautiful 1 1/2 year old yellow female lab. She is good with children and big dogs, but would not mind being an only dog. Sweetie is housetrained, great on a leash, and knows most of the basic commands like sit and stay. She even brings you her dish when it is empty! Very cute! She is a beautiful girl and is available now. Please call to meet Sweetie!

Foxy
Foxy is a young nuetered male, apparoximately 8 months old. He currently is not in a foster home and is being housed at one of our kennels but he is walked, petted and played with daily by volunteers who have grown to adore him! He gets along fabulously with all the dogs we have walked together with him and he is a healthy, playful loving young lab. Please call to find out more about Foxy. He is one special boy!

Kira
Kira is a a sweet little yellow ball of love! She is a super mellow 2-year old girl who just wants to stick close to her humans, and can't wait to find a forever family of her very own! Kira is housebroken and knows some basic commands. She enjoys hanging out with her canine foster brother and sister, but isn't much of a roughhouser. She prefers to lay quietly and enjoy the company of her family. Kira is interested in toys, but she also shares nicely - she's not a toy hog! She is wonderful on a leash, and loves getting bathed and brushed. Give us a call and meet this wonderful little girl today! Are YOU Kira's forever family?

Angus4
Angus4 is a very handsome, dark chocolate 2 year old male. He is looking for an active family to love and play with. He is housebroken and uses a doggy door. He is good in the house and is not destructive. Playing with tennis balls is one of his favorite activities. Angus needs leash training, but knows some basic commands and really likes to be with people. He is good with other dogs, cats and children, but could knock small ones down with his enthusiasm. Angus does not like a crate. Come to our next event and meet this wonderful Lab!

Luna4
Luna is a 2 year old, 80 pound lab whose family moved and couldn't take her - but they did take very good care of her. She has a sweet disposition and is very playful. Luna's favorite activity is to drink from the hose! She is good with kids and other dogs, doesn't pull on the leash when walked, and loves to play catch. She knows a few basic commands like "sit". Give us a call to meet Luna!

Bruno2
Bruno is a tall 90 lb mellow chocolate boy. At 4 1/2 yrs old he is out of the chewing and puppy nonsense. He walks well on a leash, doesn't jump, dig, counter surf or nuisance bark. He is good with dogs and cats alike. Bruno loves small children and people of all ages. He rides great in the car, is crate trained and is house broken. This great lab is versatile enough to be an only dog or part of a pack. Bruno now enjoys spending his days swimming in the pool, chewing on rawhides and sleeping on the cool tile. If this calm, gentle giant sounds like a boy that would fit in with your family then call us to meet him today.

Carolina
Looking for a wonderful companion? Carolina might just be your answer. This 5-year-old black beauty has excellent house manners and can be trusted when left alone. She is calm and low-energy in the house, but loves to play ball and go on walks. She walks pretty well on a leash and gets along with the other dogs she meets. She is great with the children in her foster home and mostly just likes to get belly rubs and hang out with her family. She’s a great girl!
