Cadie
Cadie is just sweet, sweet, sweet! We're estimating her to be about eight years old, so she's well beyond all of that foolish puppy behavior. Cadie is a small but stocky 65 pounds, perfect for those looking for a smaller-sized Lab to love. In the house, she's mellow and trustworthy when left alone... assuming your trash can is safely out of reach, of course; like any self respecting Lab, Cadie will help herself to any and all food left unattended within her reach. Though she doesn't know any basic commands, she's well mannered enough that it doesn't much matter; Cadie doesn't jump, bark, beg, or chew. She's an angel on leash. Cadie LOVES children, and she's very gentle with even the littlest ones she meets on her walks through the neighborhood. Though there are no other dogs in her foster home, Cadie would do well in a home with other dogs. She's probably a bit too interested to live with cats, however. Cadie does have poor teeth from years of chewing on rocks, so she gets kibble softened with water and canned food... but a little spoiling never hurt anybody, right? After she eats, Cadie loves to roll about on the floor and give her back a good scratching, which is sure to make you smile! More than anything, Cadie loves to be with her people, getting belly rubs and giving kisses.

Spencer4
Hello! My name is Spencer and I am seven years old. I came to DLRR in April of this year with some very serious skin issues. My foster mom has taken great care of me and I am well on the road to recovery. My hair has started to grow back and I am soooo handsome, as you can see from my picture! I am very sweet and just love to be around my people - and I like other dogs too! I love to run and swim in my foster mom's pool. My favorite hobby is lizard chasing and - let me tell you, I am a great hunter! I am looking for a forever family that just likes to hang out or go for long walks. I am house trained and have fabulous manners, so if you are looking for a great dog, come and meet me!

Duffy
Duffy is a healthy, 3 year old sweet, affectionate, black male who melts your heart with his smile. He is crate trained, housebroken and loves swimming in the pool. He is good with children but currently prefers to be an only dog. Duffy walks nicely on the leash after the initial excitement of "Yeah! I'm going for a walk!" He knows "sit" and "lie down" and is working on "stay." He is a real charmer who loves to hang out with the family. He follows his foster mom around like a shadow, though not in the way. He loves to be near people and often curls up at your feet (or on them!) Come see this sweet big boy and consider Duffy for your next new family member.

Ivy2
Ivy is a 15 week old chocolate mix who is sweet, affectionate, smart and gentle. She is 19 pounds of adorable cuteness who gets along with dogs and kids (and hasn't met a cat). In her foster home so far, she is being crate trained, housetrained (90%), and is learning to walk on a leash. She is not a barker and is playful without being too rough or rowdy. Our vet said they think she will be approximately 30 to 40 lbs when grown. If you're ready to commit the time and patience a young pup needs, you'll be rewarded for a lifetime!

Hunter9
Hunter is a big 3.5 year old yellow lap dog and his brother Sharoo is 3.5 year old chocolate lap dog. They both just want to be loved and to give love - they love hanging out with their people! Although they have been outside dogs, they both love being inside. They are not at all destructive in the house, but do need work on the potty training. They do not try to climb on furniture unless their people on sitting on it, then they try to climb into their laps to give kisses and get love. They mastered the doggy door very quickly so they will be fairly easy to train with a little persistence. They do need leash work still but are getting better. If you are looking for two big lovers who just want to make their people happy, Hunter & Sharoo are your guys.

Zipper
Zipper is a small super cute 1 year old male yellow Labrador mix who loves the water. He gets along with other dogs, and will be happiest with a young, playful dog that he can rough-house and "be a puppy" with. Zipper would also enjoy being an only dog and receiving all of the love! He is not recommended in an environment with cats. Zipper absolutely loves children - he's so patient and gentle - and will quickly become their best friend. Zipper needs work learning his basic commands but seems housebroken. He is very eager to learn and eager to please, and already sits for food without being asked! If you are looking for a gentle, loyal, handsome, small family dog with lots of energy and love to give, then Zipper could be the guy for you! Please call us to learn more about him and to schedule a meeting.

Sparky4
Meet Sparky – a 4 year old male lab mix, with a sparkling personality! Sparky has a wonderful, playful and sweet nature and loves to give kisses to humans and dogs alike. He’s definitely a lover - not a fighter! Sparky is a true retriever, as he loves to fetch balls, frisbees, etc. (He’ll even manage to fit two tennis balls in his mouth if necessary : ). He absolutely LOVES water and gets along great with other dogs, greeting them all with kisses. He is completely housebroken, extremely well behaved, doesn’t jump on furniture and walks fairly well on a leash. Sparky thoroughly enjoys his daily walks and playtime in the backyard, but also knows when to stop and relax in the house. He’s completely comfortable just laying on the floor, but doesn’t mind snuggling up next to you and having his belly rubbed either... Crating is no problem, although he has been fine when left alone with the other lab in his foster home. He is great around kids, extremely smart and knows basic commands, such as sit, shake and stay. Meet adorable Sparky and be prepared to fall in love…

Fitz
Fitz is an affectionate 3 year old purebred yellow male with a medium build and a huge heart. His family had to give him up because they moved out of state and couldn’t take him with them. He is housebroken and uses the doggy door. Fitz is well behaved in the house and has the run of the house with his foster brothers but enjoys sleeping in his crate at night. Fitz gets along well with other dogs and, according to his previous owner, is good with cats and children. He loves to swim. He walks nicely on a leash but gets excited when he sees people or other dogs. He is learning good leash manners and will need someone who will continue helping him with this. He has a wheat allergy so he needs food that doesn't contain wheat. If you want a typical lab who is loving and just wants to be with his people, then Fitz is the dog for you.

Audrey
Audrey is a beautiful, 6 year old female who goes by several nicknames at her foster home: Sweetie, because she has no bad habits; Lover, because her favorite place is at the side of her humans; and Thumper, because her tail wags vigorously all the time and often is thumping on the floor, wall or furniture! She loves to get in the pool on the second step, put her face in the water and shake the water all over! When she isn't in the pool, she'll curl up on a dogbed and enjoy a bone for a few minutes. Audrey wouldn't dream of touching anything when her foster parents leave. She sits on command and is learning down. Although her foster home does not have any kids, this dog is so gentle that we think she would be fine with children of any age. Audrey loves, loves, loves her walks and is an absolute dream on a leash. She is waiting to gaze into YOUR eyes with her beautiful brown ones! Come and meet amazing Audrey!

Merlin
Merlin is a dark chocolate mostly lab mix about 5 years old. He gets along fine with other dogs and we think he should not be an only dog. He has no issue with cats. He does well in a large crate at night although would prefer to sleep with you in bed. He is usually calm and walks well on a leash. He is not at all wild in the house nor outside although he isn't just a couch potato. He is not much of a swimmer and clearly has an aversion to the vacuum cleaner. He barks only when the others do which isn't much. He has a lot of petite features that make him absolutely adorable. A little shy at first. We are working to complete his housebreaking. What a great guy !

Johnny
Hi! My name is Johnny and I’m a black one year old male lab mix, about 50 pounds, with a beautiful sleek coat and a white chest blaze. I’m kind of lanky, an athlete if I do say so myself. I probably won’t get much bigger, and boy do I love to play. I went to a DiamondBacks game with the DLRR folks and found out I’m a lot faster than the ball players and probably can catch better too! At the game I met several other dogs and all manner of fans and got along great with everybody. I enjoyed nuzzling toddlers still too small to walk by themselves and cuddling up to older people in wheelchairs. Did I mention that I LOVE TO PLAY? Even better, I haven’t got a destructive or aggressive bone in my body. Next to being a “retriever” (but not yet from the water) I much prefer to roll over on my back and let you rub my tummy. I like to car ride and if you help me up I really prefer the shotgun seat, or to help you drive, but I’ll ride any place you put me. I know my name, come when I’m called, sit and shake. I think I’m house broken but after this stint in the shelter I may need a couple of reminders. To be your forever partner I really need just two things: people to play with me and probably a “gentle leader” for a few days, to help me stop tugging on the leash. Oh yes, one last thing, if you come visit me at the shelter please be patient. I’ll be so excited to see you that I may not calm down right away. Most of all, I’m just a real lover who desperately wants to please and be in a new home, and oh yes... PLAY!

Fargo2
Pssst, wanna play? I do! My name is Fargo and I am a 10 month old black lab mix. I am just a whole bunch of love and fun, wrapped up in really thick, soft, silky black fur. My Foster Mom says I am a champion at cuddling, am really smart, and I have one of the most beautiful Labrador heads she has seen. I sleep through the night in my crate and am a very good boy. I like other dogs and love kids. Sometimes I love kids too much so older kids are better for me. I am busy learning basic obedience and boundaries. Everyone says I am learning quickly - so far no accidents in the house! The one thing I am missing is a family of my own. Could it be you?

Zoey6
Zoey6 is a stunning blonde, on the smaller side. She came to DLRR with a nasty laceration on her rear leg, but we are very happy to report that her leg has just about healed and she no longer has to wear that funny collar. She is very, very affectionate, good with other dogs, and we do not know how she is with cats. She walks quite well on the leash now. Like any 2 year old, she has big bursts of energy but also spends some nice quiet time. We think she would be great with kids - but in her exuberance, she might knock over the really small ones. She will need a family willing to put in the time to give her basic training. She is showing interest in the pool and likes to chase a dog that's chasing a ball. She does an awesome "FLOP DROP" to get belly rubs. What a cutie!

Iris
Iris is a 5 year-old female black lab who is a good natured, happy, sweet girl, and is great with other dogs. Iris loves to play with any and all toys, and will retrieve a tennis ball like a maniac! Iris is very exuberant with her toys, and for this reason would do best in a home with older children. She rides wonderfully in the car, and is happy to be a backseat-only driver. Iris is good on the leash, but does pull initially because she is so excited to be out and about. She is available for adoption but does not have a foster home yet. Volunteers spend time with her and walk her daily and her tail wags with joy when they do! Please give us a call and consider meeting Iris.

Dale
Dale is a very handsome 2 1/2 year old dark chocolate male. He is a very calm Lab in the house, but get a leash out and he gets excited! With his previous owner, he was used to running 5 miles and did a marathon last year. He is good with children, other dogs and cats. In the past Dale has always been the only dog and he is still learning that it is ok to be in a group of dogs. He is housebroken but does not use the doggy door — we are working on that. He is very good left alone in the house and does not get into any trouble. Dale enjoys playing fetch and swimming, and rides great in the car. If you need a running companion, Dale could be the Lab for you. Please contact us or come to one of our events to meet him.

Sweetie
Sweetie is a beautiful 1 1/2 year old yellow female lab. She is good with children and big dogs, but would not mind being an only dog. Sweetie is housetrained, great on a leash, and knows most of the basic commands like sit and stay. She even brings you her dish when it is empty! Very cute! She is a beautiful girl and is available now. Please call to meet Sweetie!

Labrador Life Line's annual Heart Dog Auction

DLRR is getting in new dogs and adopting them out every day, and while we do our best to update this page frequently, we may have dogs that aren't listed, or some of the dogs here may have been adopted. Even if we don't have the dog you want right now, we would encourage you to begin the process. Complete our online adoption application, and answer all of our questions about the kind of dog you want. We'll contact you as soon as possible after we receive your application. We usually get more black labs than yellows and more yellows than chocolates, and also in general more males than females. If you are looking for a particular color or sex, you may need to be patient. All DLRR dogs are spayed/neutered, vet checked and up to date on all their vaccinations.
We need foster homes!! The number of dogs we can rescue is limited by the space we have to care for them. Volunteer to foster and you could save a dog's life!
